Making IT Happen @ HES

The PTA has announced its annual Making It Happen fundraiser which began
Friday, September 6th. This fundraiser allows you to make a one-time donation
in lieu of alternative fundraising projects such as door-to-door sales of gift wrap, cookie dough and coupon books.

To keep HES an Interactive Technology Leader in CMS, we will be purchasing
Chrome Books for the second grade classrooms as well as enhancing our outdoor
and playground equipment.

Our goal is $30,000 which is easily accomplished with your help. HES PTA is
asking each family to contribute $75 per student enrolled at HES. 100% of your
donation will benefit the school and it is also tax deductible.

There are two ways to donate:
Make a check payable to: HES PTA

Every student who donates $75 or more will be entered to win one
of the many top prizes:
  • 5 Day 4 Night Cruise for 2 to Mexico, Western Caribbean or Bahamas
  • Westin Charlotte Hotel Hotel Stay & $100 Gift Card to 131 Main, Charlotte
  • Oceanfront Ocean Isle Beach Condo Weekend Family Getaway-For up to 6

Be There Dad

BE THERE DAD

We want YOU…to be a BE THERE DAD!
Huntersville Elementary is so excited to have a “Be There Dad” chapter.  http://betheredad.org. Be There Dad® is an organization whose purpose is to help dads become engaged and stay involved in the lives of their children. The Be There Dad (BTD) concept relies on the “power of presence”. That idea says that when dads are involved in the lives of their children in a positive way, good things happen.
Our chapter is called the H.E.R.O.E.S. of HES!
Last year, the HEROES helped open car doors in the morning, assisted in cleanup projects around school campus and put on a “Ninja Warrior” event. This year we want to do even more!
We welcome those of you who have been a part of this wonderful group and we would love for more Dads to join and help in this program.  Please contact Jeff Price at [email protected] to join or for more information!

ONE Access

Discover e-books & more with ONE Access!
What does ONE Access offer?
ONE Access has two components this year-something for CMS students and something for CMS staff.
For CMS students:
ONE Access, or “One Number Equals Access,” uses students’ school identification numbers instead of separate library cards. With their ONE Access account, students can:
*Access Library research databases
*Borrow digital materials such as e-books, e-audiobooks, magazines, music and video
*Borrow up to 10 print or audio books (no DVDs or music CDs)
There are no overdue fines for ONE Access accounts, but users are responsible for fees on lost or damaged books.
For CMS staff:
If you’re a member of staff in the Charlotte-Mecklenburg School system, this year your NC EdCloud login number will be a ONE Access E-account, giving you instant access to all of Charlotte Mecklenburg Library’s online resources. You’ll be automatically enrolled on September 1, 2016.
Here’s how to get started using your ONE Access E-account:
*Go to http://www.cmlibrary.org
*Access resources using your User Name and Pin: ◦Username: CMS+ your 10 digit NC EdCloud login number. For example CMS1234567890
◦Pin number: Last four digits of your login number. For example 7890
Your 10 digit login number is found on your pay stub under Employee ID
These efforts are part of an ongoing commitment by the Charlotte Mecklenburg Library and Charlotte-Mecklenburg Schools to benefit the community by increasing literacy and educational success.

Shoparoo

shoparoo         A Way to Help HES Raise Money
This year we are excited to be partnering with a fun, free, and truly easy fundraiser called Shoparoo! This is Huntersville Elementary School’s 2nd year to participate. We have over 114 supporters this year and have already earned over $100!

Shoparoo is school fundraising made easy: the free app turns pictures of your everyday shopping receipts into cash donations and sweepstakes entries for our school! Yep, it’s that simple. No more cutting labels, selling door to door, or time-consuming coordinating. All you have to do is shop as you normally do, snap pictures of your receipts with the app, and voila Just shop, snap, earn!

Get started today:

1. Download the free Shoparoo app from the Apple App Store or Google Play Store
2. Select our school from the list and start taking pictures of your receipts – shop anywhere, buy anything!
3. Earn even more Roo Points, or cash donations, by inviting others to join using your personal referral code
4. You can even select a grade to support and have fun with grade competitions! 4th grade is currently in the lead!

There’s no limit to how much money we can raise with Shoparoo – the more supporters, the more we will raise for our school. Schools with just 40 supporters are earning an average of $1,000 every year. That’s free, easy money that we could be fundraising too. Check out www.shoparoo.com to learn more about this awesome app! Just ask Angela Williams, Kelli Baucom, and Trisha Coffman – they are our top HES Shoparoo Supporters!

Thank you for your support!
